How They Met
Some of the strongest relationships start out as friendships. This was the case for Alannah and Kyra’s surprise proposal. “We met in law school at Villanova,” Alannah said. “We were in the same section and we had the exact same schedule.” What started as a close friendship gradually turned into something more. “We started out as best friends, and then grew into a couple.”
As Alannah put it, the romance was almost a bonus to what was already there. At the core of their relationship is a deep and genuine friendship that came through during their session.

The Surprise Proposal
This engagement session was particularly exciting because it was a complete surprise.
“Kyra has no idea,” Alannah said with a laugh. “She’ll be coming home from a hair appointment, so I have time to set up the surprise proposal in our backyard.”
Alannah had been keeping the proposal a secret, and pulling it off without spoiling the surprise was no small feat. I parked a few houses down, ran into the backyard and hid behind the shed. The moment it all came together was an emotional and special milestone in their relationship.
What the Engagement Photos Felt Like
Alannah and Kyra’s engagement photos were intimate, personal and captured the unique dynamic of their relationship.
“She’s always been my best friend, and realizing that there was something romantic was just a bonus.”
